In this post's first part, we shared four of the most common myths about colloidal silver. We hope the information we shared has shed some light on the topic. Here, we are sharing four more misconceptions to help you make the right decision about trying colloidal silver:

Myth #5: Colloidal Silver Hardens the Arteries

Colloidal silver is a suspension of particles of silver in a liquid. There is no solid evidence that it causes hardening of the arteries or any other problems, despite what some articles on the internet claim. This seems to be a case of someone making a false claim and getting passed around without checking. One study suggests that silver might help prevent heart attacks and strokes. The medical science journal ACS Nano showed that silver stops the clumping of red blood cells, which means it could actually help prevent heart attacks and strokes instead of causing them.

Myth #6: Colloidal Silver Harms the Kidneys

A lot of misinformation is circulating about colloidal silver and its potential side effects. One of the most common myths about silver is that colloidal silver can harm the kidneys.

This is simply not true.

Colloidal silver has been used safely for centuries, internally and externally, with no reports of kidney damage. There is no evidence to support this unfounded claim. In 2007, the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, Dr. Gary Connett wrote, "Case reports have described possible nephrotoxicity and neurotoxicity, but these have not been substantiated by studies in animal models." ( J R Soc Med 2008: 101: S51–S52. DOI 10.1258/jrsm.2008.s18012) That means that the talks of colloidal silver being harmful to kidneys are just speculation, and there is no evidence to prove it is a fact.

So, if you're considering using colloidal silver, you can rest assured that it is safe for your kidneys.

Myth #7: Colloidal Silver Is a Danger to Your Nervous System

Colloidal silver is a popular alternative solution that has a plethora of benefits. One of the most common claims is that it can help to boost the immune system.

However, there is a lot of misinformation circulating about colloidal silver. One of the most common misconceptions about silver is that it is dangerous to your nervous system.

This is simply not true. Colloidal silver is safe to use and has no known side effects.

So why do some people claim it is dangerous to your nervous system? The answer is probably that they don't understand how colloidal silver works.

Colloidal silver works by binding to and killing bacteria. It does not work by targeting specific organs or systems in the body. This means that colloidal silver can't damage the nervous system or any other part of the body.

In animal studies and human clinical reports, there is no evidence of silver causing harm to the nervous system.

In fact, in a study entitled Critical Observations on the Neurotoxicity of Silver in the publication Critical Review of Toxicology (2007;37:237-50), it was found that even if silver is metabolized throughout the soft tissues, available evidence failed to establish that it enters the central nervous system's tissues or causes neurotoxic damage.

Myth #8: Colloidal Silver Causes Cancer

The internet is full of myths and misconceptions about colloidal silver. One of the most common is that colloidal silver causes cancer. This may have originated in the '70s when some scientists discovered sarcomas' development after surgically implanting silver discs under the skin of animals. However, more modern research showed that it's not silver. But, in fact, any material surgically implanted under the skin induces sarcomas, be that of ivory, plastic, glass, wood, or others. This is attributed to the phenomenon known as "solid-state carcinogenesis." It wasn't silver at all.

Also, a medical review entitled "A Pharmacological and Toxicological Profile of Silver as an Antimicrobial Agent in Medical Devices" showed that "published cytotoxicity tests and in vivo experience indicate unequivocally that silver is not carcinogenic in any tissue and should be placed in a 'No Risk' category."
